Mike Gawley

Mike Gawley is based in the Omaha office but spends much of his time at Oakview’s other locations. As president of the company, he promotes cohesiveness between the various offices by ensuring that expectations in each office are the same. Gawley inspires the Oakview staff with his dedication and productivity. Co-workers who have traveled with him have observed that he doesn’t sleep during airplane flights—he works.
Gawley began his Oakview career in the corporate headquarters in Red Oak, Iowa. After working in Red Oak for several years, he helped start the Omaha office in 1986. Gawley draws from that experience to help other Oakview locations get off the ground.
During his tenure at Oakview, Gawley has held a variety of operational and management roles. His project experience includes construction of restaurants, ethanol plants, meat processing plants, big box retail, retirement housing, banks and more. He implemented safety incentives that reduced Worker’s Compensation MOD from 1.05 to .81, initiated Strategic Planning and three-year goal setting among managers, and linked all Oakview offices via computerized communication systems.
In hiring new employees, Gawley looks for individuals with a good attitude, commitment and high standards. “People at Oakview genuinely care about the projects they’re building,” he commented. “They have a sense of ownership.”
Gawley’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of Trustees and Building Committee of the Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council. He is Past President of the Nebraska Associated Builders and Contractors in addition to serving on the advisory board of the Engineering Industrial Committee at his alma mater, Iowa State University. He and his wife are the parents of a son and two daughters.
