Leonard Mollak
President, Horizons Division
Len Mollak has spent more than 25 years in the construction industry, starting with hands-on experience in the family business. “It was more in the residential side,” he said, “but that’s what generated my interest in construction.”
During college, Mollak worked in the design department of an international engineering firm. After graduation, he spent eight years traveling throughout the midwestern states estimating and building multi-million-dollar heavy industrial projects.
After joining Oakview in 1990, Mollak became president of the company’s Horizons Division, which handles retail and commercial construction projects in the Omaha and Lincoln metro areas as well as national retail work for stores such as Wal Mart, Baker Shoes, Helzberg’s Diamonds, Aldi Food Stores, and others.
Mollak said the best part of his work is having a satisfied client at the end of a project. “When you know the goals you’re trying to accomplish and you reach those goals and everybody is happy, it’s a great feeling.”
During his spare time, Mollak enjoys coaching his kids’ basketball teams and going to football or hockey games with his family. He and his wife have a son, 9, and a daughter, 12.
Another spare-time pursuit is fixing up his house. “I never learned to play golf because my dad wasn’t a golfer, but he taught me his carpentry skills,” Mollak said. “I don’t know if you’d call that a hobby, but it’s something I like to do.”
